Win for Artem at BTA Craft Awards 2008

Artem Special Effects are celebrating after success at this years BTA Craft Awards. SFX Designer Bob Thorne at Artem won in the Model Making category for work on Sony Bravia 'Play Doh', whilst Artem SFX Designer Jamie Campbell was runner-up for Model
making for the BT ‘Gremlins’ commercial.

Bob Thorne, Artem SFX Supervisor and winner of the award comments:
“I was thrilled to win this award. It was a real privilege to be involved with this iconic campaign. We do a lot of stop frame animation work but had never taken on anything this big!”

Artem had less than 4 weeks to produce 45 original sculpts, mould them and work out the best materials to produce them in and to still obtain the plasticine look. All in all over 200 colourful rabbits were produced.  Artem had a crew of over 40 sculptors and technicians who worked to ensure that it all went to plan – the effort was enormous but the results speak for themselves.
